SoundCloud announced on Tuesday the launch of a new, more affordable paid plan for artists called Artist, while rebranding its Next Pro plan as Artist Pro.
The new basic tier, priced at $39 per year, introduces certain limitations on features such as track amplification, distribution, monetization, and AI mastering. Artists subscribing to this plan will have access to 3 hours of upload time for an unlimited number of tracks, maintaining the same limit as the free plan.
With the Artist plan, musicians can amplify their tracks to reach over 100 listeners. SoundCloud will also facilitate track distribution and monetization to platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and TikTok. Artists retain 100% of their SoundCloud earnings and keep any revenue generated from other platforms. These benefits apply to two tracks per month under the basic plan.
Users will also be able to replace three tracks monthly without losing stats, plays, likes, or comments. Additionally, artists receive a credit to master one track per month using SoundCloud’s tools.
“At SoundCloud, we believe great music can come from anywhere, and it shouldn’t be limited by cost or complexity. That’s why we created the Artist plan — to give emerging musicians access to pro-level tools and distribution at a price they can afford,” said SoundCloud CEO Eliah Seton in a statement.
